The conversation starts: Writer & Girl:
W: Are you going to Dehradun?
She answered with an exclamation face like
G: I didn’t know anyone here.
W. Even me too!
The writer was hiding to prevent that he is blind.
G: I am getting down at Saharanpur. My aunt comes to pick me up. Where are you going to?
W: To Dehardun and then to Mussoorie.
G: How lucky you are! I love going to Mussoorie and the climate over there. Especially in October, I wish to see the hills.
Then the writer frames some images in his mind about the climate and environment in the Mussoorie. And started the conversation again like this:
W: At night, you can sit there in front of the campfire and little brandy. Many tourists used to go there to feel the climate over there.
G: Yes! October is the best time.
Then suddenly, she stopped the conversation. The writer thought that she got upset. But, a little later she asked her to move near the window. He moved near the window ledge. As he is blind, he is not able to see outside but senses the shadow of telegraph polls passing by. He is just feeling the sound of the Engine and the sound of the wheels. She asked him suddenly like this:
G: Have you noticed that the trees are moving while it seems that we are standing still?
W: It always happens!
G: Do you see animals?
W: No!
Then they sit silently for a while.
W: You have an interesting face! (complement)
G: People used to tell me that I have a Pretty face. (with laughter)
W: An interesting face can also be a Pretty face. (said louder with a small smile)
Actually, it is a remark even a few girls can take as flattery. But, her station is near. This is gonna make the writer lonely soon.
W: We will be at your station soon.
The writer in his mind: She would forget this brief encounter. But this journey stays with me for the rest of my journey and for some time.
At last, the train reached the destiny of the girl. She began to collect all her belongings. He had a doubt that she wore her hair in a bun, left her hair loose over her shoulders or was it cut very short like a baby. She said goodbye to him by standing closer to him. The perfume from that hair was tantalising. The writer wanted to touch her hair. But, she moved away but the smell where she stood, was occupied by the perfume of her hair. He sat in his birth very lonely.
Then a person comes into the compartment with an apology. He sat in front of me where the girl had sat before. The writer felt very happy to have a new conversation with the new traveller. The writer asked the traveller did you notice the hair of the girl? Who sat here before you?
Traveller: No, but I noticed that her eyes were awesome but they were of no use to her as she was Blind. Didn't you notice?
So, the prose essence is - The two blinds sat in front of each other and prevented themselves. This made the writer shocked.
